PROVIDING GOOD DESIGN FOR EVERYDAY LIVING

About

Workaday Design is a collaborative, network-based, architecture and interiors studio. To us, Workaday means engaging with the built environment in order to create beautiful, well-designed spaces for the everyday person. We work hand in hand with our clients and local skilled craftsmen to create good design for everyday living situations on a variety of scales. With each project, we strive to create work which is meaningful, innovative, and timeless. We work on a range of projects from residential new builds to whole-house remodels. Our work has been featured in such publications as Dwell, Luxe, Designboom, and Casa Vogue.

How We Started

Jason, Lara, Joe, and Zach (the four founding members of Workaday Design) met while attending Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. After graduating, they all worked together in various capacities in the Portland, Oregon architecture and design community. After living a number of years in the Portland area, Zach and his wife Tessa decided to move back to where they grew up in Kalispell, Montana. Around this same time Jason, Lara, and Joe were all feeling ready to start on a new chapter of their careers as well. Workaday Design was formed with offices in both locations as a way for the four partners to continue to work together remotely and keep doing the design work they are passionate about. Since this time the team has continued to grow and do exciting projects in both locations and in various other parts of the country.

ART

Our Montana office contains an art gallery on the building’s street front, called the Good Luck Gallery. This space serves as place to display contemporary art for the local community in downtown Kalispell. In addition to regular gallery hours, the space hosts rotating art shows, public art openings, and events for the local creative community.

GOODS

At the street front of our Oregon office you’ll find Day Goods, a one stop shop for curated home goods, furniture, and art in Portland’s Burnside neighborhood. This shop features many local makers and serves as a visual representation of some of the many items that we are integrating into our design work.

OFFICE LOCATIONS

As a network-based business, our team works together remotely to execute projects all across the country. We pride ourselves in being able to work together with clients, consultants, and craftspeople both in person and virtually. Each project Workaday Design undertakes is a new addition to the built environment. We take pride in positively contributing to both our local communities and the communities of our clients.
